SK8FACE is a documentary about the history of skateboard art, its artists and their influence on mainstream culture. The goal of the film is to trace the story of where and how the participants of the skateboarding art movement were first inspired and how they continue to create, influence and inspire in the modern world. The film showcases life through the eyes of skateboarders and artistic individuals, touching on their first hand experiences of the stories of the art (both past and present), while they continue to push ahead on their own path. We feel that these elements enable the viewer to appreciate the history of skateboard art, realize its connection and influence on the modern art world and also to illustrate todays independent creators & thinkers. The cast includes skateboard legends: Mark Gonzales, Natas Kaupas and Tony Hawk, artists: Shepard Fairey, Ed Templeton and Thomas Campbell and modern day renaissance men including Tommy Guerrero and Ray Barbee. Over the past 5 years, we have been documenting the skateboarding and street art scenes and have interviewed 60+ skateboarders, artists, creatives, art directors and icons with other 400 hours of content.
